Default Permanent Partial Disability Benefits in Florida

My husband was injured on the job, for the second time, involving the same knee. This summer he had his second surgery and has been treated very well by the work comp insurance company. He was just given a 5% PPD and has been issued two checks (looks as if they are in two week increments). These checks were totally unexpected and a pleasant surprise to us. My question is this, for how long will he receive these checks? For life since it's a permanent disability?

    Thanks,
    Robin

From what I can find, Florida removed time limits from permanent partial disability benefits in 1993, and they now last as long as the worker remains subject to the disability.

So, in other words, until he is 100% back to normal he'll receive the checks? And, how would that be determined? Do they require periodic examinations by the surgeon?

The comp carrier can periodically review his case, and have him examined by their own doctor consistent with state law.
