Getting a Child Support Arrearage Reduced in Tennessee

My child support is also out of Tennessee. I have been struggling with mental illness for 16 years (paranoia schizophrenia) and have been in and out of jobs.I am now on disability ssi. I owe 25,000.00 in back child support payments and my child is now 23 years old. is it possible to get my child support payments reduced? or a motion to completely dismiss child support completely

Are you asserting that you have been mentally incompetent for the past 16 years? Because if not, the court won't be interested in retroactively modifying your child support, as you could have brought a timely motion when your case was still in pay status.
