Default Workers Comp in Illinois
I am an over the over the road truck driver and I broke my back while I was off duty, yet taking my 34 hr break in Little Rock Arkansas. At first there was a problem then one of my buddies called up our workers comp dept. up and told them if that was to get out that they would have a hard time hiring drivers so apparently they gave me my benifits. It took them a total of 1 wk to get me home and caused me to be on my feet everyday to cash efs checks for motel rooms. They also told me to sleep in my truck until their workers comp doctor got onto them.I am wondering since my doctor here said it would be up to 8 months for me to even think about returning to work if even then, will my benifits run out or are they supposed to pay until I am capable of returning to work.

They're covering your medical and lost wages at present under the comp system?

Yes they are paying my benifits at this time, but since it will be a considerate of amount of time that I can return to work I'm just scared they might decide to stop.I do everything I'm supposed to do like calling them when I'm supposed to and turning in my doctor's slips. We just got a home that we are buying and if they stopped paying me before I could return to work we would loose it and that would be disasterous.

Your TTD benefits should continue as long as you remain temporarily disabled. However, they may send you to their own doctor if they disagree with the assessment of your physician.
