My father has been on short term disability for 6 months except for 17 days in between knee replacement surgeries. He applied for SSI in June and just got approved this month and will receive 6 months ($11,000) back pay from SSI. Since he was getting salary from his employer for being on off for his surgeries, he is concerned he will have to pay his employer back 6 months of salary since SSI is giving him back pay or give his employer the $11,000 of back pay he receives from SSI. He works and lives in Ky. Do you know if he will owe his employer any money since he is getting back pay while being on short term disability?
