Unhappy What Money and Property Can't Be Touched After Getting a Judgment Against You

What is considered “non-exempt” when dealing with a default civil judgment? My grandmother has a default judgment on her credit report. She is too sick to go down to the court and let them know she was never served and she’s not even sure the account belongs to her. Can I go in her place and let them know she is too sick to leave her house? Her biggest fear is they will take her Social security disability check as well as her social security income check (both totaling no more than $500 per month)leaving her with no money for meds., rent, or food. Would this type of income be considered “non-exempt”? Can I do anything for my grandmother since she is physically unable? Thanks for the advice

Grandma's income is "exempt" from garnishment to satisfy a credit card debt/judgment.

OK I think I'm confused. In this situation does exempt mean they can touch it or can't? On another board someone replied her income is "non-exempt from collection" meaning they can touch it but you're response is her income is "exempt". Basically in laymen terms can they touch her income? Thanks
