Default Assault & Battery in state of Virginia
My mom has been arrested for assault and battery and disturbing the peace. I'm a high school coach, it happened right after we lost our last game. I coach a boys volleyball team and as we were huddling up, one of my upset seniors ran behind the bleachers to compose himself. The girls volleyball coach (Kristen) was going to run after him and my mom stopped her from doing this. My mom told her 'Leave him alone or I'll kill you'. Kristen then proceeded to try and pass her and get to the boy. My mom then pushed her back and Kristen said 'You can't touch me' and a verbal altercation occurred as well. The sheriff's deputy present at the game finally stepped in and somewhat attempted to get them parted, but he was more interested in encouraging Kristen to press charges. My father tried to speak to Kristen, but her husband kept cutting him off saying, 'Kristen is the best thing that happened to Danny. She's the only reason he's playing.'

Kristen and her witnesses said that my mother strangled her and left marks on her neck. I saw her after the incident, didn't see anything physically wrong with her, and she didn't seem shaken.

One witness said that Kristen could 'have been the better person many times' but never walked away, just kept coming at my mom.

A little history: Kristen, a teacher, has taken a special interest in my player Danny. They're friends, they hangout, he goes up to her classroom and chats, she switched him into a class that she was teaching...

What do you think will happen here? Any advice?

Your mother had no right to physically intervene, and her actions as described seem sufficient to warrant the charge. She should consult a criminal defense lawyer.
