Health benefits for non-married couples

I work for world reknowed hospital in Chicago. My concern is that the hospital offers health insurance for married and homosexual couples only. Since homosexual marriage is not honored by the state of Illinois, isn't illegal that they don't offer insurance to persons in commited heterosexal relationships?

No, it's not. A homosexual couple does not have the option of getting married. An opposite sex couple does. You want the coverage, get married.

You're not the first to try that argument and you undoubtably won't be the last. However, so far no court has agreed with you.

Your argument have some weight in Massachusetts, where gay marriage is permitted. Outside of that, though, you're talking apples and oranges.
