Default Repo Service Put a Photo of Our Car Online

Good afternoon.*My husband and I own a 2002 Ford Excursion. *We took a title loan out with a company called rapid auto loans. My payments were late more than sixty days and I am not contesting this. My vehicle was repoed by a company called Lightning Recovery today at around 5 to 6 pm from my moms house. I will have the money to pull my vehicle out on the 1st. Its not an issue of the repo or money itself.*The repo guy posted on his instagram a picture of my truck in tow with a partial face shot of himself including partial tag. And an image of two people walking right under it which I took to be as making fun of us. We belong to the same social group including myself as his followers and him following me. He is also included in my cousins instagram. As you might have guessed friends and family found out and I felt very ashamed and embarrased and recieved a few calls. *This has caused me many tears. This repo company is contracted by rapid auto loans. I paid 2300 three months ago. And I was collecting the final payment but this happened.*Again I dont contest what I owe. But in context I feel humiliated and embarrased, even ridiculed for being a struggling person in hard economical times. *My husband lost his job a week from mine four months ago. I feel as if my privacy was put out there. And more importantly we are a struggling family with five small children. Now my partial tag is out in social media. My vehicle is one of the most stolen vehicles in Florida due to it being discontinued and its 7.3 engine. *I fear people knowing who I am or what they can do to us with such advanced technologies and partial tag number. *What are my rights in reference to this and as a consumer am I obligated to pay fees to a company who put me out there on social media? Is there a law protecting me from such a personal attack from their company employee especially infringing on my privacy? What legal protection can I use against them for this and what do I do? I attached a screenshot of the picture on his instagram. Please help me.*Sincerely,*Maria [email elided - M] My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: Florida.

So, please, in a short post, explain what you think he did that is illegal. I'll help you out a bit; there isn't anything illegal.

do you think it is illegal to post a pic of your vehicle and plate. You drive down the road all the time with your plate showing. If there is something in public view and somebody takes a pic of it, they can do whatever they want with the pics

As a former poster used to say, you did not even win the lawsuit scratch ticket.

When it is first-party like this there are fewer laws protecting you, but what they did may be against the company's policy. If you want to take action you can make a complaint to Rapid Auto Loan, not the repo company. Someone may get in trouble, I don't know, but if this was a more reputable lender (such as a large bank) I would not be surprised to see people get fired over it. In your case, probably nothing. Keep this in mind next time you choose a lender.

Regardless, don't expect it to reduce your financial obligation in any way.
