Repossession of Car where title does not match the loan documents

I am wondering whether a bank can repossess a car where the borrower on the loan paperwork is not the name on the title of the collateral. For example, a man fills out all the paperwork for a car loan, but then the title is registered in his wife's name or in both his wife's and his name.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.
