Default History of Workers Comp
Hi all

I would like to start at the beginning concerning workers comp. IF I am going to understand my enemy, then I must know its habits, history etc. Can anyone suggest a good starting point? I cant for the life of me understand how the entire country believes this to be acceptable behavior towards the very people who work to manufacture our goods and provide our services.I find it hard to accept that there is no alternatives, no way to reverese this circus and I would like to find a way to stop this.
If anyone has any suggestions, stories to share, I would like to talk with them.

Default Workers' Compensation Law
There may well be a history of the workers' compensation system avaiable through an area law library, or outlined in a law review article (they should have a database of article abstracts at any law school library).

Workers' compensation arose as a mechanism to ensure that injured workers were given appropriate medical care and rehabilitation without regard to who was at fault for the worker's injury. The trade-off is that it is a no-fault system, where the worker receives smaller damages than might be recoverable in tort but has certainty of recovery. That is, an employee's own negligence will not ordinarily disqualify the employee from recovery, as it often would in the tort system, but employees cannot recover additional compensation for their pain and suffering even when the employer's actions are particularly egregious (but short of intentionally causing the injured worker's injury).
