    Default Casino Winnings, Taxes and SSI

    Yes if someone Is on ssi and they win 1200 or more Is it ok if they have Someone else sign for it and claim it if they give them so much aside for taxes and does people on ssi have to pay taxes if anything won under 1200 because everyone I know Thats on ssi when they won they have people sign for it so Is this legal or what

    And as an afterthought - really? If someone is on SSI they have absolutely NO business gambling away their "money".

    No. It is a Federal crime to misrepresent winnings. It is also a Federal crime to defraud the SS Administration.

    If your only income aside from SSI is $1200 in gambling winnings then you would not be legally obligated to file a tax return or pay tax on it. However, it is illegal to receive income and then hide it in order to obtain government benefits to which you are not entitled if you report your income honestly. It sounds like you don't really care what the law is, you just want someone to tell you what illegal actions you can get away with. I don't believe anyone here is going to help you with that. You have to figure out what laws you can get away with breaking all on your own.
