Default Assault B Felon in New York City
A female friend of minds got into an altercation with 3 other girls over a parking spot. She was driving with her 9mo son in the rear. WHile trying to reverse park an argument broke out into a brawl over the spot. My friend was being jumped by three girls so she pulled out a box cutter and gave all three stabs and larcerations to the face and head area. Attempting to flee the scene she flagged down a marked nypd trooper and wounded up the one going to jail. She was charged with an A which was reduced to a B Felony. All three girls ( a mother was included in the three ) recieved stiches and staples.
Today was her grand jury and everybody showed up with scars freshly greased up..

Her past:
No priors nor runins with the law
College Grad
Single Mother
Corperate employee

What are her chances realisticly? Can she actually walk with probation or is there definate jail time involved? Or can this case actually be won on a self defense?

Please serious OPINIONS only.

I doubt that she's going to prevail on a self-defense theory, given that her reaction seems quite disproportionate, but then I don't have all the facts. If I were the court and she were convicted after trial, I would personally be inclined toward jail time. If she doesn't have one, she should obtain the help of a criminal defense lawyer.
