Unhappy Defending Against Sex Charge After Confessing

I have a friend who is on parole, & was sleeping w/a girl who lived in another county- During one of his visits, he purchased a computer from her, but failed to pay her in a timely fashion. Her retaliation was to call the police & accuse him of "sexual conduct w/o permission"... (while she was sleeping)- She is on physc. meds., & her phsyicritrist is the one who convinced her to make the call-- He happened to get a red-light ticket during said visit; which placed him in that county on said date.... In his state of total duress, he admitted doing said charges to a police officer-- Needless to say, he is sitting in State Prison waiting to be pulled out to court - My question is, if she comes to her senses; & drops the charges, what then???? What if the D.A. picks it up????? Do they still need her testimony in court, or can they use his statement alone to hang him???? I'm sure they will appoint him a Public Defender once they pull him out to court; but, I'm sure he needs a "street Lawyer"-- who will put up a fight - What do his chances look like????? Any & all comments appreciated!!!!

Your friend confessed - he's in a lot of trouble. If he wants to beat this charge, he would be best served by hiring a lawyer who is an expert in sex abuse cases and possibly an expert witness - tens of thousands of dollars.

[B]Once he said he did it.....the prosecutor will run him like a pony through the judicial system. the police are train to use psychological tactics to get people to say what they want. It's easy for them to get the case closed quickly. That is why it is wise not to say anything until you have talked with a lawyer first. they may have taken advantage of his age and looked at that as him being inexperienced in so doing they may have pushed him into a confession. many innocent people end up in jail because of never being in trouble before they don't know how to go about defending themselves in situations like this. as my mother used to say " you never know where life is going to take you"
