    Default Question about Child support

    I don't want this to sound the wrong way, but I want to know what the best way to reduce the amount I would pay for child support if I should end up going to court??

    What are some of the determining factors in Maryland for the amount I will be asked to pay?

    Default Maryland Child Support

    Maryland child support in is based on a formula which focuses primarily on:
    1. The number of overnights the child spends with each parent each month;
    2. The average monthly income of each parent;
    3. Daycare expenses; and
    4. Medical expenses.

    If you do anything to artificially lower your income, or are intentionally underemployed, your support obligation can be based upon an imputed higher income (based upon your presumed earning capacity).
