My question involves a condominium located in the State of: New York
One day our toilet overflowed and the owner of the unit below us had a small amt of water damage to his ceiling and wall. The plumber said the pipe in the wall had not been installed correctly and caused water to leak into the wall of the unit below us. The owner of the unit below demanded that we find a repair person to fix his wall and ceiling for him since he thought it was our fault. We told him to get a repair person to give him an estimate and have the repair approved and paid for by the condo board association. We told him we would not find him a repair person ourselves, because that is not our responsibility. He said "well we are going to have issues then, because our baby's crib was ruined from the wet paint falling from the ceiling." Are we responsible to pay for his repair, and our we responsible to pay for his personal items?
