How to Add My Name to My Children's Surname

My question involves name change laws in the State of: alabama

I do not want to take away either of their last names. I simply want to add mine so both children have the same last name . Both fathers are well not in the picture so i think it is best for both of them in the long run. Im not sure how to get this ball rolling . my daughters are 2 and 7mnths .

The court isn't going to give these children your last name unless (a) you are legally established as their father, either through DNA or adoption and (b) you're able to prove that such a change is in their best interests.

Mom, your children are babies. They have no concept of their last names. Further, you can't predict what will happen (in terms of the fathers becoming active parts of their lives) next week, let alone next month or next year.
