When is Garnishment or Seizure of Bank Account Possible

My question involves judgment recovery in the State of:CA
I'm being sued on a credit card default, I've prepared and filed an answer but the $325 civil court fee to file is a problem. I do not own any property, not even a car. I am self-employed and not earning much. Thus, I am judgement proof or nearly judgement proof. Here's the question: If a creditor wins a default judgement, can they seize a bank account, and if so, how could it be done if I haven't written a check to the credit card bank in years? They likely don't have a record of the check account or do they? How could they find another bank account if I go that route? I ask the question because the $325 fee forces me to weigh my options; the judge has declined my fee waiver petition and I cannot win there because the court wants to consider the household income of my mother--doesn't work for me.
