what kind of time frame are we talking about here? Barns generally don't go up overnight so one must presume she was aware of the barn being built. Did she say anything to the neighbor? I mean, it's only 6 acres. It's not like we are talking about some huge area where one cannot see the other end of their property.
As to removing the markers; are you speaking of some wood stakes maybe with paint or flags on them or iron markers driven into the ground?
She can call the surveyor and ask how much to reestablish whatever the neighbor removed. If she can prove the neighbor removed markers, she can seek those damages from the neighbor. Unless somebody actually saw him remove markers, chances are you cannot prove he did it.
How big is this barn?
Generally, one would start with a demand notice sent certified mail demanding the encroachment be removed. Then you go from there, depending on what the other party says in response.
