How to Get Custody of Siblings from Third Party Family in Another State

I have 2 siblings both lived in my home state at one time. Due to family issues they were relocated to a different state in the care of their aunt. At the time I was underage and unable to get custody. Now Im financially able to care for them, their aunt is unwilling to give them back. What steps can I take to get custody?

If your aunt is a court-appointed legal guardian, you would have to petition the court with jurisdiction over the guardianship matter to modify the guardianship and to make you the guardian instead of your aunt, and then to authorize you to relocate the children to whatever state you live in. The details will vary by state - as you were told when you posted, laws are different in each state.

Note that unless something is seriously wrong in your aunt's house, your chance of convincing the court to modify the present arrangement is small.
