    Post Shared Driveway Dispute

My question involves real estate located in the State of: Michigan

Okay so me and my family has recently purchased a house and it has a shared driveway with renters, the previous tenants we had no problem with but not the new ones either block the driveway so we can not pull in or block block us in. We had our landed surveyed and we own 95% percent of the driveway. So my question is can we have them not park their anymore of have them create their own driveway on the other side of their property because they have plenty of room. Another suggestion is instead could we put a fence down the property line of the driveway separating our property and extend the driveway over into our property to make our own driveway?

how and why was the shared driveway originally created? How long has it been in use?

the answers to those questions could determine what you can and cannot do.

Without those answers, doing anything is a gamble. As such, I would start with sending them a cease and desist demand informing them that they are not allowed to utilize your property anymore. That will likely stir something up and give you a clue to their position on the issue.

Since these are renters, I would send a letter to both the renters and the owner of the property.
