My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: New York
Are there any laws that protect individuals from creditor harassment?
In Oct. 2010, I set up a monthly payment plan with my creditor through their lawyers. Recently, the law firm abruptly stopped withdrawing the mutually agreed upon payment and have now resorted to calling my job, harassing me, my co-workers and even my boss. I've asked them numerous times not to call my job, but they refuse to listen. They have both my home and cell phone numbers, but they insist on making threats and false accusations to me and my co-workers at work.
Is there something that I can do to make this law firm stop this harassment? Sue them, perhaps?
