Default Getting a Green Card After Committing Petty Theft

I was cited for a shoplifting misdemeanor. My criminal attorney suggested to proceed with 'Informal deferred prosecution' and told me that since I have no prior convictions, I had a good chance to get the case dismissed and expunged. Is anyone aware of the impact of proceeding this way on green card processing which for me is in the last stages?

Since the case is that of moral turpitude, I would really appreciate if someone could please let me know if there are other better options available, other than the one suggested by my lawyer, with minimized immigration consequences?

Also, I read on this forum that someone got their petty theft reduced to a disorderly conduct which is a not a CMT? or a pre-trial diversion program? Any of these options better than 'Informal deferred prosecution'? Thanx in advance.
