Permission to Attend a Certain School Based on Accommodations

My question involves education law in the State of: Arkansas

This is my son's last year of elementary school and our home is zoned for another school in the SAME district. I called the district office to ask for permission for him to continue with his final year at the elementary he had already attended. Considering that he has documented anxiety and a reading disorder he falls under the special education area so I didn't' think it would be a big issue. The director of services seemed doubtful he would be able to attend his usual school. She was going to do some more work on it before deciding. Any advice if I am turned down? I did read the "Your Rights Under the IDEA" and found a few ideas possibly concerning that the school he previously attended is the closest in proximity to our home. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The child will have an IEP, presumably medical and/or mental health professionals who have insight into his needs - what do they say about the school change and, when their positions were conveyed to the school district, how did the school district specifically respond to their concerns?

Sounds like at some point you performed an intra district transfer or you moved and he became subject to an intra district transfer.
