Would a Background Check Assist Me in Finding Out What is All on My Record

My question involves criminal records for the state of: Nevada

I am curious as to finding out what my records contain and who is able to see them. I am on my way through undergrad studies working my way towards med school and have heard of the "immediate disqualifications" applicants face when applying. I have a range of misdemeanors in my juvenile background and would like to know what is on my record, both juvenile and adult, and who is able to see them. I have been told that juvenile records cannot be disclosed and I have heard otherwise as well. Would requesting a background check assist me in finding out what is all on my record? If so, is there a certain type of background check that I should request?
