Medical Claim Denied Because Test Was Not Pre-Authorized

I saw a doctor and he made me take a kind of EKG test. After this I got a bill from the doctor's Hospital for $1500 (which is way above my budget) when I called my insurance company (Aetna) they said they denied the bill because the test was not pre-authorized.

Whose responsibility is this to pre-authorize the test, mine or the doctor's office?

So what do I do now?

Yours, unless your insurance policy specifically and in so many words says it is the doctor's.
