Default Dropping Maiden Name As Second Middle Name

My question involves name change laws in the State of: California

When we got married I added my maiden name to my middle name and took DH last name as my new last name. So now I have first name, two middle names and DH's last name. So, due to some unforeseen issues I want to just drop the maiden as second middle name all together. I already have a New Drivers License and SS card. I changed my insurance and bank accounts but they only use my first and last name anyway.

So how do I do this? I live in California and I went on-line and download the name change forms. Just wonderng if there is an easier way.

    Thank You!

You shouldn't be able to get a license and SS card in the name sans 2 middle names as your name with 2 middle names is your legal name. Somewhere along the line you would have falsified your application for the license and SS card to obtain them in a name other than your legal name.

To change your name without getting married or divorced requires the court action you have started.

I have my new DL and SS card with the two middle names. I just want to now drop the second middle name that I added when we got married.

Ah, I thought you meant you got the DL and SS card with just the one middle name.

anyway, the court process is what it takes. Once you do that get your SS and DL corrected to reflect your new name.
