    Default Green Card Expired

I am a Permanent resident with a 10 year card, i've had my card in storage as i haen't left the country for over 4 years, i just realized that my card expired in 2009. What can i do now? should i be worried? i wanted to pursue my citizenship this year, can i do that with an expired card, or do i need to renew that first? any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks,
