My Car Was Illegaly Towed

My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: New York
Okay so yesterday i parked my car at something like a plaza but it was smaller there was a lot of stores there
I came back to my car like 15minutes later and it was already getting towed
There was no reason why my car should've been towed
I had to pay almost $200 to get it back
What can i do about this?

We can't even begin to address your concern with these few details.

Was it a pay lot? Metered Lot? Was it signed for towing? Did you park in a lot for store/mall A and leave to go to store/mall b? Did you ask the tow company why it was towed? Was your car registration up to date? Were you blocking a fire lane?

If you give the location and it can be viewed in Google Street View, we might be able to look further.

What municipality were you in, what signs regulating parking were in and/or around the parking lot, and what did those signs say?

Were you shopping at a store in the plaza during the 15-minute period?

The location was delaware and hertel in buffalo, ny and there was no signs saying that im not allowed to park there
i wasnt at any of the stores but theres no way they could know that
i think its because there was a festival there but there wasnt any signs there

In a situation such as you describe, the tow company probably had spotters on site expecting people to park and walk over to the festival. That's how a. they knew you left the property and b. they got you set up to tow so fast.

Yeah but if there was no signs and if nobody told me that im not allowed to park there thats technically towed illegaly
Is there anything i could do about it?

Which lot were you in, i.e. what businesses are in there?

im not sure there was a lot of businesses there was blue wireless m&t bank key bank dunkin donuts and some more
edit: oh if youre looking at the map its the one where the m&t bank is i parked right behind the bank infront of blue wireless where the key bank sign is

There appears to be a sign up, facing inside the lot, along the sidewalk between the bank and the strip mall maybe 15 feet from the bus stop. Is that any kind of towing notice?

no im pretty sure thats a stop sign.. if you are talking about the one right across from the key bank sign
