My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Pennsylvania
A few years ago my nephew received a student loan with my brother as a cosigner. Unbeknownst to me and without my permission, they put me down as a reference. I only found out that they did this when we started receiving letters from American Education Services (AES) wanting me to verify certain information regarding my brother. I sent them a certified letter telling them I was not responsible for their loan and had no information. Now in addition to occasional letters from AES, we started getting phone calls from a collection agency and they would just leave a recorded message telling us to contact them. Now the calls are coming every few days and occasionally twice a day. When I see their number on the caller id I just let the phone ring. . I know it’s not any debt my husband I have because I checked our credit reports and all is fine.
Any suggestions as to how I can stop these letters and phone calls??
