Exclamation How to Get a Suicidal Teen Out of Her Home

My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Georgia. My girlfriend just turned 16 and her family is psychotic. She has told and shown me that her father consistently verbally and physically abuses her. She is desperate to leave the house and she "cannot take 2 more years in that house"; she was at one point seriously contemplating SUICIDE. Her mother knows the dad is abusive but as she is Egyptian, it's culturally unacceptable for her mother to do anything. Is there any way to get her out and if so be detailed because emancipation is still confusing but I am 16 as well and we are both at the point where we would get married to get her out of that house. Please someone help!!! P.S. We will do anything to help. Also if it creates more opportunity, she has the choice to move to her sisters in Texas which is just as bad (abusive sister and drunk brother-in-law) so if there's anything possible in Texas, let me know.

    Thank you for any help.

If she's being abused or neglected, she can involve protective services.

Really. So, you have witnessed this physical abuse? What form does said abuse take?

It is common for teens to claim they are being abused when they run afoul of their parents' rules. You may well be playing into her drama.

Her option is to report and physical abuse to the police or child services. Emancipation is not the solution and neither is just moving out to shack up with you.

If she is the victim of a crime, call the police or child services. If there is abuse, she will be removed from the home and placed in foster care or a group home pending placement with a qualified family member in the area if one is available.

Unless you have personally witnessed some sort of physical assault, or seen these horrible in-laws, you may well be falling for her manipulation to be her knight in shining armor who will take her away from rules and responsibility. Be careful what you do lest you find yourself on the wrong side of the law.
