Here's the problem as I see it. Your daughter has been settled, under the care of your mother, for 1/3 of her life. Is it in her best interest to be uprooted from that? You are in a shelter and you're not working - your Mom might be able to make a case for custody if she fights.

Given that DFC was involved, this is something you may need an attorney to help with.

my mom took guardianship so that dcf wouldn't be involved.... and i don't want her to live in the shelter with me... im trying to prepare myself for what i need to do when i do move into my apt which should be no later then September and because im in the shelter its hard for me to find a job because i don't want to live in the city that im currently in so once i get into my apt ill be able to start looking. and my daughter wants to be with me she acts out and my mom and step father cant control her im the only person she listens to and behaves for. and as far as a lawyer.... i definitely cant afford one

I'm sure your daughter has gone through quite a bit of trauma in her little life.

But still, your Mom might have more than enough to convince the courts that it's in your daughter's best interest to remain put.

With that said, you really need to get ahold of what you've actually signed.
