Post Boat on My Property and Owners Cannot be Found - What Can I Do

My question involves personal property located in the State of Ca:
About 3 years ago a friend of mines grandma needed a place to store her boat , and she needed some work done on the prop/engine, Which i do as a non professional however they were supposed to pay me for the parts and such. Anyways I have stored the boat here with the work done that I did and I cannot get in touch with the owners at all. The numbers I have are disconnected and the address they have moved from. I have the keys and paperwork on the boat but I think a bank owns it. I want the boat gone but I want my 450.00 for the work I did and the agreed 100 bucks a month to store it, I have washed it once a month and started it once a month to maintain a good engine and battery life. I have looked on line and discovered one of the owners have passed away so what do I do? HELP!!

have you called your friend? you know, the one whose grandma owned the boat? They might have some info regarding the location of the owners.

Yes I did and the second owner said she would pay me for it all and has not done that yet , its been 60 days since she said she would pay me so what can I do I want it off my property and I want my money too. She will not give me her address as well and like I said she moved from the address I have from her. This boat has been here 3 years!

Oh, so you have had contact with an owner of the boat. That is far different than you haven't had contact with the owner for over 3 years.

Since you have a name and phone number, I suggest you doing some research to discover an address so you can send a letter (certified of course) demanding payment.

Does the boat have a CF number on the hull?

Use this form to request the owner's information:

    http://apps.dmv.ca.gov/forms/inf/inf70.pdf

Once you have that information you can move to make the appropriate notification of the owner and anyone with a fiduciary interest in the vessel. If none, then you might be able to place a lien on the vehicle and sell it.

For more info on the sale you can check with the Lien Sale Unit at (916) 657-7617 or check with a local field office:
