i'm up for ssi review, why are they asking me for 3 years back bank statements.
Because they want to make sure your assets aren't above a certain level.

why does SS want detailed statements. i thought they only looked at the balance at the beginning of each month.
i have been through the review before, and had to answer question about my health, and have Dr's. reports, but they have never ask me for bank statements.
Ah, no.
If that were the case you could have $5k deposited the day after the beginning of the month, and then make sure it's all been spent.
So - have you had large sums of money deposited into your account during the past 3 years?

no, but sometimes my cousin will send me extra money to help out with bills. and this i depost in my account. i have never had more than 1200. in my account. it is hard to live on what i get. there are bills to pay. i am just worried..
Cash gifts are countable income, generally. Payment of food and shelter is considered in-kind income. Payments made for non food and shelter bills are generally not income. You were supposed to report receipt of any income since it may affect SSI benefits.
