Default How Can a Minor Get a Transfer of Guardianship

My question involves guardianship in the State of: Idaho/Washington
I’m having trouble with my parents. My mom married an alcoholic back in 2005 that’s been abusive to her as well as the rest of the family, when my dad found out he immediately filed for custody and won due to an overwhelming amount of evidence against my mom. Though it was good at the time, I went from one hell to another. My dad had me cooking and cleaning while watching my little brother all day while he was at work. This was amplified by the fact that my little brother is out of control and constantly getting in trouble with the law. For the first time in my life I was failing my classes and became very stressed. The thing that really put it over the edge was when I went into an asthma and panic attack one night and my dad had refused to get me help. I had decided at that it was best to go back to live my mom under the false implications that step father had quit drinking.. Anyway.. Just recently he got drunk and took a swing at me again. I have a child services counselor coming to see me tomorrow, but I have no idea what to ask for or where to go from here. My best friend’s mother (of six years) has offered to take custody of me but I have no Idea what that will entail considering my dad still has legal custody of me in another state. Honestly I just need advice from someone who knows guardianship/ custody laws over here. Thanks for reading and if you can help me out that would be appreciated

If your parents agree to letting somebody else be your guardian, that person can petition a court with your parents consent. Laws vary by state, so you need to figure out what state you live in and look at the laws and court procedures for that state.

While it's not unusual for teenagers to dislike chores, parents are allowed to assign chores.

I expect that your father's version of events on the night of your asthma attack is less sensational than yours. Do you care to share his version?
