Default Statute of Limitations on Local Taxes

This is in the state of PA. I had another thread on here but it was closed. A law firm is trying to collect old property taxes from 2001 and 2006. I already had to pay these bastards once now they want more. I was not the owner of the property until 2011. I was in middle school back in 2001 for god sakes. The local tax collector is clueless and shocked as even their records don't go back that far.. Is this even legal or is it a shakedown? I already paid these bastards hundreds in school back taxes now they want even more. I don't know what to do now, arson maybe? Nobody is gonna buy this property now I can't even give it away its so far underwater. I'm screwed.

If you purchased the property with a lien on it, the lien remains until the underlying debt is paid and they release the lien. Given you acquired the property in 2011, I would suggest you might have an action against whomever you purchased the property from, at least for the taxes owed prior to you purchasing it.

There was no lien. The tax collector knows of no taxes due the township tax collector is shocked. They have no record of any taxes due but the law firm trying to squeeze me says they do and they represent the township.

so, if the township tax collector knows of no taxes due, who is attempting to collect taxes?

let me ask this a different way:

who is claiming you owe taxes to them?

The lawfirm says they have been retained by the township the same township where the collector says they have no record.. Its a paradox.
