My question involves an eviction in the state of: FL (month to month tenancy)
My landlord filed an eviction against me. The eviction was denied and the Judge reduced my monthly rent and ordered my landlord to make repairs within 30 days. I paid the reduced rent for the month of June to landlord.
A week or so AFTER the ruling my landlord sold the property. The new owner/landlord is demanding full rent from the day he bought the property til the end of this month. He is claiming the court order is moot because he is not responsible for previous owner. He also claims the previous owner provided notification of termination of tenancy to me before he became the new owner and if full payment is not recieved he will follow up on the previous owner's termination of my tenancy and file an eviction.
Is either owner responsible for the court ordered repairs? Can a new owner claim the previous owner terminated my tenancy and intiate an eviction?
