Default How Will a Criminal Record Affect My Life

My question involves criminal records for the state of: New York

Hello when i was 20 years old i was at a house party were i was put into a position to defend myself, and like anyone else i did. Unfortunately somebody got hurt (stitches) and pressed charged against me. I was originally charged with aggravated assault, assault with a deadly weapon (they though a bat was used, but later realized no weapon was used), and after the court hearings they dropped all the felony's. I pleaded guilty to a plea of attempted assault (110.120 class B misdemeanor) with no probation no community service no nothing, that was the only time I've ever been in trouble in my life. I am just curious how this might effect my life i am currently full time in college for a business management and economics degree and work full time in a bank. and in near future would like to try to go to law school and become a lawyer. Is there any possiable way to seal this misdemeanor, even after 10 years of never getting in trouble again and graduation from college, and countless hours of volunteered community service?

I was also told to apply, for a Certificate of Relief of Disability's. what does this due, and is it any help or not really? Please help.

The extent to which your criminal record affects your life depends upon what happens in the future - we can't predict the future for you. Obviously, having a criminal record can create issues when you apply for jobs, and could make it more difficult for you to be admitted to the bar should you acually attend law school and attempt to enter practice. As you should already know from reading the hundreds of other threads on New York law, your state does not provide for expungement.

Take ten seconds and read one of the dozens of threads already in the forum, describing what a Certificate of Relief from Disabilities can do for you. It will take you less time and effort to find and read the information than it will take us to repeat it for you.
