well, unless the dealer is who financed the car for you, returning it to the dealer means nothing other than you abandoned the car on property that has no association with the situation.
If you are going to abandon the car, at least do it at the institution that is the lender and presumed lienholder.
as to what can happen? You can be sued for any deficiency after the vehicle is sold. I do not know if there is any ability to chase a debtor to Canada but I do not believe there is nor would it be practical to do so.
do you have any idea if your credit history report here will affect you in Canada?
