Do Child Support Arrears Collect Interest

My question involves child support in the State of: Ohio

I'm on the giving end and struggling to make my child support payments. Here is the full story:

My child support order went back to the date that my kid was born. The first two months the amount around $475 then I had a court date and they increased it to $585. So the next four months would be counted as 585x4. The CS court order took place in the middle of the year and that's why I have arrears. My questions is "does arrears earn interest like a credit card even when a court order was not given?" If so, what is the interest rate of those arrears? I have been paying the other 6 months normally.

I was order to pay the full amount in 30 days, which is clearly not possible. Also, they raised my child support amount to $716 because of the arrears. I made my calculations and I will pay off all my arrears in about 3 years. I would like to extend that because the amount that I was paying 584 is extremely high for me. How can I do this? Is there any sort of payment plan that I can enter?

If you are ordered to pay child support and accrue arrears, or if your support order includes an award for arrears prior to the entry of the order, you will owe judgment interest on the arrears.

You pay off your arrears by doing exactly that - paying money in addition to your ongoing obligation toward your arrears.
