Missing Mortgage Payments During Chapter 13 Repayment Plan

My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: Indiana
I am in active chapter 13 about 2 years approximately and have about 8 missed mortgage payments due to the fact that I had surgery and a car wreck.
Bank of America sent a packet for loan modification, but everything is going so fast, they want trial payments sent July 1 and my attorney needs to sign off by then , which I haven't been able to get in touch with him.
Should I just try to contact him and see if I can refile and include the back pay or keep going with the modification I'm so confused,
