My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Pennsylvania
My sister and I rented an apartment August 2010, I paid her half of the total first/last/sec as we were splitting rent. I never signed the lease, ever. I recently bought a new house, have not been living there but after arguing with her I decided to keep paying her rent until the remainder of this year's lease is up, even though she is not moving out the the apartment.
If we started the lease Aug 1 2010, renewed Aug 1 2011, isn't my last months rent the month of July (AUG 1 2011- July 31 2012?), so I'd pay her that at the end of June?
If that is true, and I paid MY part of the first/last/sec, I should not have to pay her at the end of June for the month of July, since that would be my last months rent, right?
I know she is going to fight me on this so I just want to have my story straight before speaking with her. I appreciate all the honest replies!
