My mom call Walmart about a week ago and they said they are no longer "pursuing" my friend or I and that it's up to the court to decide our punishment/fines... which was already decided so I'm not waiting for anything.
Come back and tell us when you get the $200 Civil Demand in the mail.
Ask your mom what your crime really cost her. She is paying for someone to supervise you while you perform your community service hours, someone has to keep track or your check in/out, hours, and make sure you are working your ass off. They don't do that for free.
We'll you could have informed us about that little tidbit before you wasted our time. With your attitude it won't be long before you try this again.
He'll do it again. Guaranteed. No remorse.
"The way I saw it, was that WalMart is a big corporation with A LOT of money and it wouldn't hurt them too bad if two lower class teenagers took mascara, hair dye, and chocolate milk." This is from his first post.
I guess if I were a lower-class person, he would find it ok if I stole from him.....that favorite CD of his could net me a few bucks at the used CD store. But since he can afford to buy the CD, I guess it is ok if I steal it from him.....
I got a special message from the op.

WWWWWRRRRRROOONNNGG.
Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that you were completely wrong about my court fees etc costing at LEAST $500. In total, it costed $50 for a "Stop Shoplifting" class and that's it. Thanks for your help! ;] NNNNNOOOOOTT.
I am not an attorney and any advice is not to be construed as legal advice. You might even want to ignore my advice. Actually, there are plenty of real attorneys that you might want to ignore as well.
I will laugh when he comes back going "I got caught again, what do I expect...." and we got again we are wrong....
I also suspect that since the case is not closed yet, the court has yet to impose their fees. They often wait until final adjudication due to the possible variables that can change between now and the final disposition of the case.
If you do happen to be right (honest) (I have serious doubts), realize it is your criminal record here, not ours. Mine is shiny clean. How about yours?

did you really only have to pay 50$ for a stop shoplifting class, i am in a similar situation that you were in, i am just scared and looking for awnsers
I highly suspect the poster was making that claim trying to prove everybody that gave her advice wrong. Hell, a speeding ticket costs more than that, even if there isn't an actual fine. Fees and whatever they want to call all the money they tack onto a ticket can be several hundred dollars in many jurisdictions.
She may have had to pay the $50 for a shoplifting class but there were likely court fees and possible fines she failed to mention.
