Why Would My Bank Account Be Frozen

My question involves personal finance in the State of: Indiana

Hi I recently went online to check my account balance and I saw that my account status was frozen. I don't owe any debts and I haven't received any documents in the mail. Could someone please assist me in why this is going on and what to do?

When I called the bank they were unable to tell me why my account was frozen...do you know how long the bank can freeze my account without any explanation?

And the bank would know - are you sure you got through to the right people?

Have you made any unusual purchases with a debit card? Written an unusually large check?

The bank knows why your account is frozen. It would be illegal for a bank to freeze an account on an irrational whim.

What do you mean "they were unable to tell me" - they couldn't speak? That person didn't know? Why didn't you ask that person to transfer you to the person who does know?

Many times an acct. is frozen because a creditor has put a restraint/freeze on it (though you said you owe no debts) or one of the reasons Dogmatique noted.
I would keep contacting the bank until you find out why. Can you physically go to the bank & talk to someone?
