    Question Arrested at Arraignment

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia

I was never arrested until I received a letter that stated what I was charged with an a court date..I appeared to the court date an the D.A. asked me if I was arrested for these charges yet I told her no..I went in front of the judge he asked me how I plead I said not guilty..the D.A. then approached the judge an told him I wasn't arrested for these charges yet so the judge shook his head at her an told me that I was being placed under arrest an they took me to jail..Is that normal..everyone was alittle confused by the way this happened..but they said by me going on my own without being arrested it looked good for me is that true????

It is common to be issued a summons to appear for the initial hearing instead of a warrant being issued. Usually, after answering the summons, the defendant is kept to be processed (ie: arrested) and then released. Was this your experience? Or were you held after processing?

I was taken into custody at the courthouse an kept until my family could make bail..just some people thought it was very strange that the other co-defendents in this case were arrested before arraignment but I was not..friends think its because there case against me is not as strong what do you think about this???

I would talk to your lawyer about that. Personally, I have never seen the chronological order co-defendant warrant arrests to be particularly telling.
