Default I Want My Baby Girl to Have My Last Name

My question involves civil rights in the State of: Texas
How can I go about having my child's last name changed to mine? I pay child support faithfullyand try to spend as much time with my babygirl as possible. The mother has been promising go have it done, but just keeps coming up with excuses and changes the subject when I bring it up. How can I go about doing it myself and do I have to get a lawyer? ,

You get an attorney and petition the court to have the child's name changed.

At the minimum, expect that it will be hyphenated.

In Texas you must prepare a petition for the name change. You them must also show consent of the other parent or at least proof that you notified them when the hearing on the matter is going to be. You then convince the judge that it is in the child's best interest (NOT YOUR BELIEF OF YOUR OWN ENTITLEMENT) that the proposed name change take place.

You can find the process by googling "Texas Minor Name Change"
