Have You Been Convicted of a Crime in the Past 7 Years -North Carolina

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: North Carolina

I have been searching everywhere for the correct answer to my question. I am filling out a job application and it asks if i have been convicted of a crime in the last 7 years.

My question is, do I count from the date of conviction (8/25/05) or the date that I completed sentencing. I served no time, but received 1 year UNSUPERVISED probation and $50/fine. I am trying to figure out if I use the conviction date or 8/25/06 - the date unsupervised probation ended...I never saw an PO officer if that matters

If you were “convicted” of a crime on August 25, 2005, then you should answer this seven year question concerning your conviction in the affirmative until August 24, 2012. On or after August 25, you can truthfully answer this question in the negative.

BTW, does this particular application ask about any crime or just felonies?

The question specifically asks "Have you been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in the past 7 years"
