Future Impact of Working for 3 Days

What is the impact for a student with otherwise fine moral character who was placed in deportation proceedings for working 3 days (stopped working on his own; was picked up 2 years later)? Will he ever be able to get a US visa in the future? Would an immigration visa ever be an option for him? Is this something a good attorney can help him overcome, or is his file marked forever???

When you choose to disregard immigration laws, you make it significantly less likely that the host nation is going to be interested in having you again visit their land. That's true of any country.

I expect that you're talking about a ten year period of ineligibility. You've given no indication that this person is eligible for a waiver. If this person hopes to get a waiver, it would make sense for him to share any relevant facts with an immigration lawyer. If not, should he attempt to return after his period of ineligibility ends, he will want to make sure that he can document strong ties to his home country such that there won't be any doubt about his intent to obey the law the next time around - and even then he may have difficulty.
