My question involves guardianship in the State of: Texas
My wife and would like to become the legally guardian(s) of her little brother, he is 12 years old. He is visiting us in Florida for the summer and lives with his mom in Texas the rest of the time. We have talked to his Mom and she is willing to let us take him. My question is what needs to be done at this point. Would we have to be present during anything or can we get everything done from out of state with the help of the Mom in Texas? My wife and I are both active duty military, she is a resident in TX and I am a resident in FL (not sure if you need that information or not). We would like to get this done as quickly as we can so he doesn't miss any school. Thanks in advance to whoever can help.
