How Can I Move Out of a Shared Apartment Without Being Accused of Stealing

My question involves personal property located in the State of: CT

Hi, I have some furniture in an apartment that I was supposed to live in with 2 other girls. Instead, we did not get along and I lived at home, but continued to pay rent there while the other 2 girls stayed. The lease ends tomorrow and I still have my furniture in there that I need to get out. I am afraid that if I get my furniture out while they are not there that they may accuse me of possibly stealing other things that belong to them just to get me in trouble.

How can I avoid this? Is it enough to just bring someone as my "witness" to watch that I am taking only my things or do I need to involve some kind of authority so that a report is made?

either go while they are there or risk the problem.


if you do go while they are not there, I would have somebody videotape everything from driving up to the home to driving away. That is still not going to prove you did not go back later or weren't there before though.


You might attempt to enlist the aid of the landlord to chaperon your retrieval. I would still video record everything though.
