Default How Do You Get Traffic School

My question involves traffic court in the State of: CALIFORNIA

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

    california

    los angeles

I got a speeding ticket 2 weeks ago and I thought there was an option to go to traffic school to have the ticket dismissed. How do I go about that?
I really don't want to pay $360, whats the best way to go about this so I can pay the least amount.

    Here are my online options:

Based on the status of this citation, you are eligible for the following online transaction(s). Select one of the option(s) below:

Appearance Date Extension - The extension date will be 10/02/2012.

Traffic School Payment - The amount due is $424.00 plus a e-Public Access service fee* of $10.00 will be added to this amount. The traffic school due date will be 08/21/2012.

Full Payment to Close Your Citation - The amount due is $360 plus a e-Public Access service fee* of $10.00 will be added to this amount.

Court Date Reservation for Arraignment Only - No Trials - Select a time preference below.
AM PM Night Court No Preference
Please explain what I should do? I want this dismissed someh

Where do I go to request traffic school and having the charges dismissed or lowered significantly. Is that even possible? Help anyone?

Traffic school prevents the point from going on your driving record. It does not make the fine magically go away. You are responsible for the fine + traffic school fee + court fees when you take that option.

Makes you wonder how some people passed the written test, doesn't it?

Well, technically, you don't have to pay it. But the consequences that will result are even more damning. You can try and contest it but under the circumstances I'm thinking prevailing would require divine intervention.

Leaves you in a position where paying it is the only reasonable option

Per the options you posted, it appears that is no longer the case!

Seriously though, if traffic school would result in a dismissal of the citation in a way where the full fine amount is no longer required, who in their right mind would refuse that option or choose the more expensive option? And because of that, why would the court offer anyone such option knowing everyone will opt for the cheaper choice.

As you were already told, traffic school will simply result in dismissing the violation points off your record. The penalty for you violating the law would still apply, still be payable and still be due!

So in this case: you can pay the $360 fine only and one violation point will appear and stay on your record for 3 years..

Alternatively, you can pay the $360 fine plus a $64 court administrative fee ~ Total = $424 and the violation will appear on your record as "dismissed", and no violation points will be assessed on you record.

Not even your insurance agent or adjuster can answer that with any degree of certainty.

In reality, you can take traffic school and regardless of what happens after you complete the program and submit the completion certificate, you will be covered.

The other option, you are at the mercy of your insurer who can at any point in time rate your policy as higher risk, raise your premium and there isn't much you can do about it!

I've decided to do traffic school. I dont have the money yet.

So will I have to pay $434 plus the traffic school fee? I really dont know what to expect, can someone tell me how the traffic school option works?

Also what can I do if I dont have all the money at once? I'm not sure I can get together $434 plus more.. Can someone please answer for me.

Also doesn't $360 seem high for a 18mph over the limit?

It wasnt in a construction zone. Anyone know why its so high?

Check the bail and fee schedule, and be sure to read page 2 and pages 24 and beyond for some explanation as t the penalties and assessments.

How many times and in how many different ways?

I explained some aspects in post # 5. You can read about other elements here: Traffic School

you can ask the judge for an extension and/or a payment plan, you should read this form: TR-310 - Agreement To Pay traffic Violator School Fee In Installments (VC 42007)

And I was going to suggest you pay special attention to point #3 on that form, but you should also read # 4 in its entirety and understand that once you set up a payment plan with the court, you have to meet the terms, make the payments on time, you cannot cancel, you cannot change your mind; if you default, you owe the entire balance due immediately.
